Top 5 things to do in Calvert County this April

Looking for something fun to do during the month of April? Check out our top 5 picks!

1.    Visit a playground – the weather is getting warmer and its staying light longer, which means the kids will want to be outside. “Seasonal” hours for the local parks have taken effect meaning many playgrounds are open until it becomes dark outside (normally around 7:30ish).

2.    Fairy & Gnome Home Festival and Tour – one of my favorite events is back this spring at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center. Make the most of this event by dressing like a fairy or gnome while you hunt for houses, ride a unicorn, make crafts and more…

3.    Hunt for shark’s teeth – Visit Calvert Cliffs State Park, Flag Ponds or any local beach along the Chesapeake Bay and hunt for some shark’s teeth. The water might still be too cold to play in, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy the beach.

4.    Visit the otters – Take some time to visit some of the cutest residents in Calvert County. The river otters, Chumley and Chessie-Grace who live at Calvert Marine Museum (CMM) are some of the cutest animals around. While checking out the otters, take a peek at some of the other exhibits CMM has to offer.

5.    Visit the Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum – during Spring and into Fall the museum is open daily from 1-4 pm. The museum is a great way for kids to learn about trains and the history of Chesapeake Beach!
