To celebrate Family Play Day on July 13th, we surprised the kids with a trip to the Chesapeake Beach Water Park in Chesapeake Beach, MD. We have driven past the Water Park several times but it has never worked out for us to go until this month. And now that we have gone, I am kicking myself for not making an effort to go sooner. We had a great time.
We got there right when the water park opened at 11. There was about 10 people in line at the gate for those with tickets already and two people ahead of us at the ticket window. Getting there early was key to getting a seat and exploring the park before it got busy. Your ticket into the water park doesn't guarantee you a chair however we had no trouble finding several chairs all together. If you were concerned about not getting a chair, they offer cabana rentals which would guarantee that you got chairs and shade which would be nice if you had a bigger group. But again, we got there right when it opened and found chairs right away. They have lockers to rent also however we didn't take advantage of that.
Once we put our stuff down the kids got right into the water! The three older kids were tall enough to do everything by themselves. However my son is still not a strong swimmer so I made sure he stayed close to myself or my husband. The pool in the center has three smaller slides, a water fall and a medium slide that all the kids could do. I liked that I could sit in the middle of the pool and see all four of my kids enjoying an element of the water park. It made for a relaxing outing. Speaking of relaxing, we all loved the lazy river. My older girls liked to swim it without a tube because the water made them go faster than normal which made them feel like mermaids! My husband and I each took a smaller kid on a tube with us and went around many times. It was great.
For lunch we got food from the Beachcomber Grill there at the water park. They do not allow outside food or drinks with the exception of on unopened water bottle per person. They have large coolers located around the park for you to fill up your water bottle which was great for our hot day. We placed our lunch order using the website which was really convenient. It took no time at all and we didn't have to wait in line for our order, we did the lazy river instead! Our meal was ready quick, it was hot and it tasted great. I felt like it was a good price for the amount of food we got. Plus everyone enjoyed their meal. My husband and I both got cheese burgers with fries and a drink. Our kids ordered off the kids menu; three hot dogs and one chicken tenders. We ate at our chairs and then went back to playing in the water.

My overall impression of Chesapeake Beach Water Park is a positive one. The place was clean. The staff was nice. The lifeguards seemed focused and attentive. Lunch was easy to order and the food was good. We had a great time and are eager to go back.
Chesapeake Beach Water Park is located at 4079 Gordon Stinnett Ave, Chesapeake Beach, MD 20732.
Please note that we were given tickets for the day in exchange for advertising but my opinions are my own.
